Chloe Annett as Kristine Kochanski
in Red Dwarf
'Red Dwarf' is the name of a huge mining ship. On board is Dave Lister (Craig Charles), being punished for illegally keeping a cat on the ship, the Cat (Danny John-Jules) and a hologram of Arnold Rimmer (Lister's boss, played by Chris Barrie). Kryton (Robert Llewellyn), a 'mechanoid' joins them in Series 3.
Chloe Annett was born in London in 1971 and went to the Mountfield Theatre School to study drama. Her father is the well known TV director, Paul Annett, who has directed Poldark (1975), Secret Army (1977), and currently the long-running soap opera Eastenders. Chloe's brother, Jamie, is also a TV producer and director who, like his father, has directed many episodes of Eastenders.
Chloe's first TV appearance was in an episode of All Creatures Great and Small (1990). Two years later, she was in America playing Isabelle in Jewels (1992), a romantic drama for TV by Danielle Steel. In the UK, she was seen in Byker Grove (1994) and the medieval detective series Caedfel (1996).
In 1998, Chloe Annett took over the role in Red Dwarf that was to bring her fame, that of Kristine Kochanski. Red Dwarf is a science-fiction comedy, set in space, some time in the future. It ran for eight seasons from 1988 until 1999, with 52 episodes in total. 'Red Dwarf' is the name of a huge mining ship. On board is Dave Lister (Craig Charles) who is being punished for illegally keeping a cat on the ship, the Cat (Danny John-Jules) and a hologram of Arnold Rimmer (Lister's boss, played by Chris Barrie). Kryton (Robert Llewellyn), a 'mechanoid' joins them in Series 3.
Chloe Annett was first seen in Red Dwarf in December 1997, although her character, Kristine Kochanski, had appeared earlier in the series, played by Claire Grogan
Chloe Annett is married to Alec McKinlay, manager of the pop group Oasis.
Crime Traveller (1977) saw Chloe Annett in the role of Holly Turner, a forensic scientist working for the Metropolitan Police. Her spare time interest is perfecting a time machine invented by her late father. Jeff Slade (Michael French from Eastenders), is sceptical about the concept of time travel...until Holly proves the machine works. They use the machine to go back in time and gain evidence to solve crimes, but they have to be careful not to be seen in two places at once! Unfortunately the BBC didn't make a projected second series, so one season of 8 episodes is all that remains.
Since her time in Red Dwarf, Chloe has done more TV work, most recently in Casualty (2004).
