In January 2008 his autobiography Anything Goes, which he wrote with his sister Carole E Barrowman, was published. It reached number 2 in the Sunday Times 'best-seller's' list.
John Barrowman has several solo albums to his name, featuring music from Broadway, Cole Porter and Andrew Lloyd Webber, and in 2007 his album Another Side was released by Sony.
He appeared in his first pantomime debut in Cinderella at the Wimbledon Theatre in 2005 and the following year he was Jack in Jack and the Beanstalk in Cardiff. In 2007 he played the title role in Aladdin at the Hippodrome in Birmingham .

Barrowman became better known in America playing Peter Fairchild in 19 episodes of the soap Central Park West (1995-96) and later as Peter Wliiams in another unsuccessful soap Titans (2000).
Barrowman established himself in musical comedy, after taking over the role of Billy Crocker in Cole Porter's Anything Goes, following this with performances in several musicals by Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals.
They settled in Joliet, Illinois, where John attended Joliet West High School. Whilst there, he took part in the musicals Hello Dolly, Oliver, Camelot and Anything Goes. He went to the University in San Diego before returning to the UK in 1989.
John Barrowman was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1967. Eight years later, the family moved to America, where John's father was relocated with his job.
During the 1990s, Barrowman appeared in a number of West End plays and musicals, along with a production of The Rope in 1993 at the Chichester Theatre, where he met his gay partner Scott Gill, an architect.
